Garikayi has considerable experience in litigation having practiced as a Public Prosecutor for over ten years. He left the public sector to join private practice in March 2017 after having risen to assume responsibility for prosecutorial functions at the Norton Magistrates Court in Zimbabwe.

Apart from obtaining a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws (General) from the University of Zimbabwe, Garikayi also trained as a Magistrate and Prosecutor at the Judicial College of Zimbabwe. With his vast experience acquired in prosecuting criminal matters and his special interest in Criminal Law, he has strengthened and provided breath and capacity. He is currently a lecturer of law at the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU).
